Dex: Yo yo yo, what’s up, Dex Nation! We are LIVE! Today is huge — HUGE. Sitting next to me is the one, the only, the star of Inferno Squad… Frank Morales! Frank, welcome!
Frank: Thank you, young lady. Nice lights. Very bright.
Dex: So, Frank, everybody wants to know — do you do your own stunts?
Frank: Stunts? Well… I once climbed a ladder to the fourth floor with a cat under my arm. Does that count?
Dex: Ha! Love it! And the red carpet — what’s it like walking the red carpet?
Frank: The only red carpet I know is the one in my sister’s hallway. She makes us take our shoes off.
Dex: (laughing nervously) OK… so, what’s your workout routine? Protein shakes?
Frank: Thirty-one years of carrying hoses. And my wife’s soup.
Dex: Wait. Hoses? Frank… you ARE Frank Morales the actor, right?
Frank: Actor? No, no. I’m Frank Morales, retired firefighter. Your message said „We want to meet the hero Frank Morales.” My granddaughter said, „Grandpa, that’s you — go!” So I came.
Dex: Oh no. Oh no, no, no. Guys, there’s been a… small mix-up. OK, chat is going crazy. People are writing: „Ask him about the fire!” What fire?
Frank: Probably the bakery on Elm Street. Twelve years ago. A gas leak, four in the morning. The baker’s family lived upstairs. My team went in and we brought out six people — two of them children. Everyone survived.
Dex: Six people… Frank, that’s insane. The viewers… we’ve never had this many viewers. Ever. Frank, you’re a real hero!
Frank: Ah, careful with that word. Today everyone is a hero — a footballer scores a goal, he’s a hero; someone eats ten burgers on camera, he’s a hero. I did my job, with a good team. For me, a hero is somebody who does the right thing when nobody is filming. The nurse on the night shift. The neighbour who checks on the old lady upstairs. Nobody gives them likes.
Dex: That… actually hits hard. So what should my followers do? Like, what’s the challenge?
Frank: No challenge. Learn first aid. Check your smoke alarm. And thank someone who helps you every day.
