Amara: Excuse me, is this seat free?
Leo: Sure, go ahead. Careful, the coffee here is strong enough to wake the dead.
Amara: That’s exactly what I need. I’m Amara, by the way. First year, Business.
Leo: Leo. First year, Art History. Well… officially.
Amara: Officially?
Leo: Yesterday I sat in the wrong lecture for forty minutes. Advanced Organic Chemistry.
Amara: Forty minutes? Didn’t you notice anything strange?
Leo: I noticed there were a lot of hexagons on the slides. I thought it was modern art.
Amara: Okay, that’s worse than my first day. I got lost looking for the library and ended up in the staff car park. Twice.
Leo: The campus map is useless. It looks like a plate of spaghetti.
Amara: Did you go to the freshers’ fair?
Leo: Oh yes. I signed up for six societies.
Amara: Six? Which ones?
Leo: Photography, film, debating, underwater hockey, the Cheese-Tasting Society and… something called Extreme Ironing.
Amara: Extreme ironing? What’s that?
Leo: No idea. But they had free pizza.
Amara: That’s how they get you! I only joined the volunteering club. I want to keep my evenings free for studying.
Leo: Studying? It’s week one!
Amara: My first assignment is due in three weeks. Two thousand words on marketing.
Leo: Three weeks is ages. That’s practically next year.
Amara: That’s what everyone says. Then suddenly it’s the night before and you’re living on coffee and biscuits.
Leo: Fair point. So how’s your flat? Do you get on with your flatmates?
Amara: They’re lovely, but one of them labels everything in the fridge. Even individual eggs.
Leo: Seriously?
Amara: Seriously. „Property of Daniel. Do not touch.” On an egg.
Leo: Mine is the opposite. Nobody washes anything. We have one clean spoon left, and we take turns.
Amara: Sounds like you need a cleaning rota.
Leo: Or more spoons.
Amara: Look, why don’t we start a study group? Just one evening a week. We can keep each other on track.
Leo: Great idea. On one condition.
Amara: What’s that?
Leo: You come to the Cheese-Tasting Society with me on Thursday.
Amara: Deal. But if it turns into extreme ironing, I’m leaving.
