Oliver: Nina? Nina Hart? Is that really you?
Nina: Oliver! „The boy most likely to succeed”! How are you?
Oliver: Great. Really great. I’m a senior director now. Corner office, company car, the whole package.
Nina: Wow. Congratulations. You always said you’d be the boss one day.
Oliver: Well, I’m not the top boss yet, but I’m getting there. Sorry — one second… (phone buzzes) No, send it to the client tonight. Yes, tonight. Sorry about that.
Nina: It’s Saturday evening, Oliver.
Oliver: Ha! There’s no such thing as Saturday in my job. I work about seventy hours a week.
Nina: Seventy? When do you sleep?
Oliver: On planes, mostly. And when did I last have a real holiday…? Three years ago. But that’s the price of success, right? What about you? I heard you… er…
Nina: Failed my final exams? You can say it. I did. Twice, actually.
Oliver: I’m sorry. That must have been hard.
Nina: It was. Then I applied for jobs and twelve companies rejected me. Twelve! So I started walking my neighbours’ dogs to earn some money.
Oliver: Dog walking. Right. That’s… nice.
Nina: It was. And then I got lucky. One day my own dog ran away — straight into a stranger’s garden. The man turned out to own a chain of vet clinics. We started talking, and he asked me to take care of his clients’ pets.
Oliver: Seriously? Your dog found your first big client?
Nina: Best employee I’ve ever had. Now I run a pet-care company. We have fifteen people and over four hundred furry customers.
Oliver: Fifteen employees? That’s impressive! You must work all the time.
Nina: Four days a week. Fridays are for my family and my garden.
Oliver: Four days? But you could grow so much faster!
Nina: I know. Last year an investor offered me a lot of money to open twenty new branches. I turned him down.
Oliver: You turned down money? Why?!
Nina: Because I’d have to give up my four-day week. For me, success isn’t the biggest company. It’s having time for the people I love — and still enjoying Monday mornings.
Oliver: Enjoying Monday mornings… I can’t remember the last time I did that. (phone buzzes again)
Nina: Aren’t you going to answer that?
Oliver: No. You know what? I’m switching it off. For the first time in three years.
Nina: Look at that! „The boy most likely to succeed” is finally having a successful evening.
Oliver: So… tell me more about these dogs.
